In 2012 I was teaching High School English. I realized I had to change my job that year because I’d lost that spark of joy that you remember from your best teachers. Partly the system’s fault, partly the fact I get bored easily.
Then things got interesting:
I did a Masters’ in Creative Writing over the next two years, graduating with Honours.
I formed a publishing company with friends from the program, and published New Zealand fiction.
I was a candidate for local government for the New Zealand Labour Party three times. I ran my local branch of the party.
I left the publishing company and formed my own company.
And finally: After twists and turns, conventions and collaborations, artists and editors, I’ll be publishing the first book of the FireWall series, The Renegade Within in May.
Finally, it’s coming.
